CONSTANTIN BOYM, was born in Moscow, Russia in 1955, where he graduated from Moscow Architectural Institute. In 1984-85, he earned a Master’s degree in design from Domus Academy in Milan. In 1986, he established Boym Design Studio in New York City. His studio’s designs include tableware for Alessi and Authentics, watches for Swatch, and exhibition installations for many American museums, including Cooper-Hewitt, and National Design Museum in New York. In 1998, Boym Design Studio started a three-year-long catalogue project “Souvenirs for the End of the Century”, to be culminated in the end of the year 2000. Karim Rashid is a leading figure in the fields of product, furniture and interior design and is largely credited for bringing exceptional, affordable design to the masses via iconic products like the Oh Chair and Garbo Trashcan. His perspective and clients are global and he considers himself a cultural shaper doing projects ranging from products, interiors, fashion, furniture, lighting, to art and music. His clients include Umbra, Nambe, Magis, Prada, Mikasa, Target, Issey Miyake, Copco and Alessi, among others . He designed the Morimoto restaurant in Philadelphia , Semiramis hotel in Athens and Nooch in NYC. Presently he is working in 23 countries. He has won numerous awards and his work is in the permanent collection of 14 Museums including MoMA and SFMoMA . In 2006 Karim received Honorary Doctorates from the Ontario College of Art and Design and Corcoran College . He exhibits art at Sandra Gering and Deitch Projects in New York . Karim has just published his guide to living "Design Your Self from Regan Books, Digipop a digital exploration of computer graphics (Taschen 2005), a portfolio book published by Chronicle books (2004), as well two monographs titled Evolution (Universe, 2004) and I Want to Change the World(Rizzoli, 2001). He edited the International Design Yearbook 18 for Calmann and King 2003 and released two CDs available on Seattle boutique label, Neverstop. JOHN VAN HAMERSVELD, born in 1941 in Baltimore, was schooled from and taught at Art Center College of Design and California Institute of the Arts. With a background which includes rock concert promoting and work at SURFER Magazine and Capitol Records, Johns experience encompasses album cover, poster, magazine and book design. One of these achievements was the 360° mural at the Los Angeles Coliseum, executed for the 1984 Olympic Games which won him national recognition by the American Institute of Architects. After graduating from Parsons School of Design, GENE MEYER worked for Donna Karan at Anne Klein Studio designing accessories. He then became Geoffery Beenes design assistant, working closely with Mr. Beene for over ten years. While at Beene, he designed womens ready to wear as well as womens shoes. Gene started his own womens made to order clothing business in 1989, and then branched out into womens accessories. He added mens neckwear to the mix in 1991. His neckwear earned him his first CFDA award (American Fashion Award) in 1994. By 1994, Gene was designing a complete menswear collection under his own label. In 1996 Gene received his second CFDA award for his menswear collection. Currently, Gene is developing his home licensing area which will include textiles, table settings, bed, bath, and beyond.
